About the Competitors

Owen Metz

Owen Metz is currently in his first year at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music pursuing degrees in Organ Performance, as well as mathematics. At Oberlin, he is studying with Dr. Jonathan Moyer. Previously, Owen studied organ with Kenrick Mervine and piano with Dr. Stephen Fiess. In the future, he hopes to continue performing music through church music, ensembles with other musicians, and solo recitals.

Marshall Joos

Marshall Joos is majoring in Organ Performance at Rice University and studying under Ken Cowan. He began his organ studies at the age of ten under Lorrie Dodson, and in 2018 began studying under Christian Lane. He is a two-time winner of the Boston chapter RCYO and a two-time 2nd place winner of the regional competition (2019 and 2021). Marshall was also the 2019 winner of the L. Cameron Johnson Competition. In 2021, he was featured on “From the Top” and received the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. Most recently, Marshall was awarded the Pogorzelski-Yankee Memorial Scholarship by the AGO.
